Instill a #Heart To #ServeOthers In Your #Children

Teaching your child, at a young age, the importance of serving others has a multitude of benefits. Serving together as a family creates strong #bonds, #purpose, and even memories. It will  change their #worldview, the way they see those around them, and open their eyes to the hardships others face. It is humbling and, honestly, we all need to be #humbled on occasion. It is also #empowering to experience that they, as kids who rely on others and often feel so vulnerable, can contribute to the betterment of their community, their neighborhood, their city or nearby shelter, impoverished city, or foreign country. 

Know that if you are new at this, it may bring up some uncomfortable emotions, both in you and your children. You are the leader of your family and your kids are watching how you interact with the smelly guy in the nursing home, the young mom with four kids in the #homeless shelter or the teen in a hospital wheelchair. Show the #compassion, #empathy and gentle humor just as you want your kids to show others. No time for judgin' here and hardship is not contagious. The desire to make a difference is though…
